Text Box: Advance Your Career! Attend NABCJ Conference and Training Institute And Receive Continuing Education Credits and Substance Abuse Certifications NABCJ’s Annual Conference and Training Institutes are planned and directed by volunteer professionals dedicated to providing information and skills development that will help all to understand and navigate the criminal justice system and to have a successful career in the criminal justice area. The National Office Staff work with the planning group in providing support and assistance for Conference and Training Institute Planning. Since 1974, NABCJ has worked to offer creative and informational presentations, educational workshops, and addresses from well known/celebrity status keynote speakers during its annual Conference and Training Institutes. We promote our Annual Conference and Training Institute through our Commitment Newsletter, Pre-Conference and Training Institute Brochures and the Conference and Training Institute Program Journal. These various publications provide helpful information about upcoming conference and training institutes’ registrations, hotel reservations and vendor/exhibit information. We make every effort to ensure that the location of each Conference and Training Institute is in a significant area of the country that will enhance your training and informational experience, but will also conducive to family recreation and culture development.
NABCJ, for the first time, in 2008 will begin sponsoring an Annual Juvenile Justice Training Institute. The Institute will be targeted toward college level students who are majoring in the criminal justice field and others who may have an interest in the juvenile justice field. We are pleased that Old Dominion University will be the host location for our first Juvenile Justice Training Institute.
Throughout the year, we call for workshop proposals that are interesting, challenging and useful to Conference and Training Institute participants. We are looking for workshops that:

  • Are relevant to criminal justice administrators, managers and line staff;
  • Representative of the current issues confronting criminal justice; and
  • Teaches skills that can be used in any facet of the criminal justice field by one are all areas of the criminal justice field.
